One of the key philosophies at Social Learners is continuous consistent collaboration between the person creating the Behavior and Learning Plan (the Behavior Analyst) and those who are most present in that individual's life (the parents/ guardians).
After setting goals, Social Learners will use evidence-based methods to track skill acquisition, share results with you, collaboratively plan the next steps.
The latest methods and research studies in the field of autism therapy will be shared and passed along to you on a regular basis.
This will help to guide your family towards success in the Social Learners' environment, the home environment, and in other environments.
The field of Applied Behavior Analysis has been applied to many different areas, applications, and populations, however, all Board Certified Behavior Analysts (BCBAs) and Board Certified assistant Behavior Analysts (BCaBAs) are advocates of evidence based interventions, taking measurable and trackable data, and letting data guide and continuously evaluate their treatment decisions. They have also undergone rigorous years of coursework,, many hours of supervised practicums, and a stringent certification exam. This allows those who have passed to call themselves Behavior Analysts, and advertise that they are Board Certified. This also means they have a duty to uphold a strict and lengthy ethics code for best practices that place the dignity, confidentiality, and carefully weighed best & most efficacious outcomes at the forefront of the primary client's programming.

Social Learners is a personalized, autism therapy, practice focused on providing a consistent and dedicated team for your child's ABA therapy programs.
This will help to ensure your child receives the highest level of consistent support, therapy, and professional expertise.
I began working in the autism field nearly 10 years ago. Before becoming a Behavior Interventionist, and later a Behavior Consultant, I worked for non-profit organizations focusing on child-specific issues such as youth suicide prevention and intervention.
I have always been passionate about working in areas to support those who may experience struggle towards the goal of self-advocacy and independence. With behavior consulting I have been able to turn that passion into an ABA-focused career enriched by playful energy where I get to build connections, through Applied Behavior Analysis, with individuals who continue to positively impact me as much as I hope to positively impact them.
When I'm not working I like to take an active part in the martial arts community here in Victoria. I have competed in the past in Kickboxing and in the evenings I continue to train, coach, and help others in their fitness and martial arts journey. I also spend a lot of time in various other fitness activities and love to share the knowledge and experience I've acquired as an athlete to anyone looking to improve their own health and incorporate a healthy lifestyle into their day.
Over the years I have worked, in a children's therapy centre, face to face with a large range of clients who have ASD as well as other diagnoses that have comorbidity with autism.
I specialize in working with clients and families who have goals around:
• Social Skills • Communication • Tutoring
• Academic Skills • Learning Skills • Play Skills
• Unsafe Behaviors Towards Self & Others • Toilet Training
• Functional Independent Living Skills • Healthy Living • Anxiety
• Community Integration •Independent Sleeping
All Social Skills Groups are individualized. Each Social Group also has generalized goals that aim to bring the Social Skills of each of the learners with autism or aspergers to within the range of their peers, in various environments such as school, on the playground, and in the community.
The Goals in this program focus heavily on Theory of Mind: an ability necessary to understand that others have beliefs, desires, intentions, and perspectives that are different from one's own.
In addition, there are children's therapy groups that also focus purely on the skills necessary to take part in many playground games; skills which range from rules of popular games, scripts and strategies to join ongoing games, recruiting friends to join a game, joint attention - and lots and lots of practice!
Relevant Social Skills at this age tend to drift away from knowledge of playground games, turn taking, imaginative play skills, and other related skills. These skills are key goal areas for individuals who, in the past, may have been diagnosed with Asperger's syndrome, but who are now higher on the autism spectrum under the diagnosis of autism spectrum disorder.
Instead, these Social Skills tackle more nuanced skills and areas such as conversational flow, teasing and bullying, texting, inviting friends over, and hanging out with friends outside of school and in the community.
These autism Social Skills children's therapy groups are guided by evidence-based models such as Dr. Laugeson's PEERS Program, and the "Talk With Me" Conversation Program used to teach Conversational Balance and Fluency.
